Household leaves Beta: edit together, and shared cards stop counting twice
v0.1.11👥 Household is now a full part of Synx. Either partner can tidy and tag any transaction in the shared view, and a credit card you share stops getting counted twice.
- Household is out of Beta: the shared money view for you and your partner is now a complete, finished part of Synx, with real shared editing, one set of tags, and cleaner totals when you share a credit card.
Why it matters: A shared view is only half the job. Real life is two people both touching the same money. Now you can both keep things tidy, tag the same way, and trust that a card you share isn't quietly counted twice.
What's new
- Either of you can keep things tidy: In the shared view, both partners can now change a category, add or remove tags, split a charge, flag it, add a note, or hide it, no matter whose account it lives on. During Beta only the account's owner could make those edits. Now it's shared work, not just a shared view.
- One set of tags for the household: When you're looking at the shared view, you both pick from the same list of tags. If you each made a "Vacation" tag, they show up as one, so a charge never carries two near-identical labels and you don't have to remember whose tag is whose.
- A card you share stops counting twice: If one of you is an authorized user on the other's credit card, that card shows up for both of you, and the same charges used to land in your household totals twice. Synx now spots these matched cards on its own. In Settings → Household, the Primary links them in one tap and picks whose spending they should count as, and the duplicates quietly drop out of every total from then on.
- Focus the Spend page on one person: In the shared view, the Spend by Member panel breaks your combined spending down person by person. Click anyone to pin the whole Spend page to just their charges: their categories, their trend, their total. Click them again, or the small × at the top, to return to the combined picture.
Good to know
- Linking shared cards is the Primary's call: Spotting a likely match happens automatically for both of you, but linking two cards and choosing whose spending they count as is done by the Primary. Either of you can always see the section, and unlinking later is safe: it changes nothing about your actual transactions.
- Bring your partner onto Access and you both get $5: Unchanged from Beta. When someone you invite signs up for Synx Access within 30 days of accepting, you each get 500 tokens ($5) credited automatically. Invites are good for 7 days.
